JRAd consulting, Inc. is pleased to announce the release of version 2.1 of Palmedic, their patient management software for the Newton family of hand-held computers. Palmedic is a feature-rich, easy to use resource for the production and maintainenance of a patient's medical record. Version 2.1 builds upon the successes of version 2.0 by improving plug-in interaction and allowing for individual plug-ins to share resources and conserve precious memory. Multiple bug fixes and plug-in enhancements have gone into this update as well.

The use of a plug-in architecture for data entry and reporting makes Palmedic the most versatile medical information manager on the market. The user may load only the modules they need, including but not limited to medications, problem lists, patient allergies, patient billing, and note creation via templates and macros. Users may also have custom modules created for them or may create their own. Palmedic is distributed with a standard set of plug-ins that make it a complete patient management solution, and new modules are being created all the time. There is no longer the need to model the way you manage your patient information after a particular program. Palmedic may be used to enter and report on a patient's data using your own methods.

Palmedic integrates with the Names application, Dates application, medical reference books (like Lexi-Comp drug reference from K2 consultants), and note writing utilities (notably Transcriptionist from Tactile Systems). With the capability of programmable plug-ins, Palmedic has the ability to communicate with any other program on your Newton- those that exist now, and those that are yet to come.

Features:

  • Quickly capture and/or access any patient data directly from a fully customizable patient "chart" view or from anywhere in the program
  • Show an overview of patient data in any format with user-customized lists
  • Remember to do tasks by location, priority, and/or alarm reminder
  • Access information on over 3500 medications from within the program (using K2 consultants LexiDrugs 97)
  • Improve billing with easy ICD/CPT code capture and complete report summaries
  • Easily follow and document test results with abnormal value hiliting, trend charting and automated insertion of values into notes
  • Calculated tests like A-a gradient, creatinine clearance, serum osmolality, etc. are built-in to the program allowing the results of these calculations to automatically be a part of the medical record
  • Near automatic creation of patient notes, including history and physical, progress note, discharge summary, and clinic note (requires Transcriptionist)
  • Track procedures according to your residency requirements and report them in a spreadsheet style format
  • Keep track of consultants/consultees for each patient and automatically create letters to each using data from the patient's record
  • Sign out patients with ease using faxable/printable patient summaries
  • Communicate with others who use Palmedic by beaming or mailing entire patient records or individual patient data items
  • "Palmedic truly outshines Virtual Intern, PocketCHART, and all the other programs I have tried. You can become the dominant product in this field..." - John Osborne, MD, MBA

"Palmedic is the ideal patient management solution for house officers. It is an affordable and powerful program which allows for organization and quick, easy access of patient information both on the wards and in the clinic. And the new plug in modules and integration with programs like the Lexicomp drug database make it an even better bargain." - Sean Mullendore, MD

"Again, thank you so much for developing a program that...seems to have unlimited potential!" - Matt Fischer, MD

    Requirements:

    Newton 2.0 or greater Operating System (120, 130, 2000, or eMate 300)
Additional memory is strongly suggested to store patient records
